About

At Democracy at Work – Los Angeles (D@W-LA), we endeavor to further our parent organization’s purpose, that is, raising awareness and generating a positive cultural shift towards Worker Cooperatives. Worker Co-ops are a way to reorganize our workplaces in a truly democratic fashion, where decision-making power and wealth are shared equally. Through promotion, education, and connection with local organizations, we aim to be a hub in Los Angeles that advocates for and facilitates the transformation of our economic system.

Our parent organization is the national non-profit, Democracy at Work, D@W began supporting the formation of local action groups such as D@W-LA in 2016, and now there are about two dozen groups across the US and the world.

At D@W-LA, we hold monthly meetings in which we discuss current economic issues and potential solutions that involve worker cooperatives. During the meetings, we also host guest speakers who help us understand the many ways through which we can bring about change. Click here to find out when our next meetup is!

We also partner with many other local community groups in and around LA who are working towards similar and relating goals.
